Nuclear Fusion Pressure Vessel, CPE recently supported a UK nuclear fusion project with the manufacture of a 48 litre Nuclear Fusion Pressure Vessel for use as a specialist storage vessel.

This demanding project required a high level of control throughout the design and manufacturing process. Our teams developed bespoke welding procedures and qualifications to suit the vessel design, materials and specific project requirements.

Quality assurance and inspection formed a key part of the manufacturing process. The Nuclear Fusion Pressure Vessel underwent 100% radiographic testing, 100% dye penetrant inspection and 10% Positive Material Identification using XRF. These inspections provided comprehensive verification of weld integrity and material compliance.

A helium leak test was required to verify its integrity and suitability for the demanding requirements of the fusion energy application. This was in addition to the hydrotest required for the design code and directive.

An internal and external electro polish completed the vessel. The surface finish supporting the stringent cleanliness and quality requirements of the application.

Our in-house design, technical, welding and projects teams worked closely throughout the project to manage the specialist manufacturing requirements and ensure full compliance with the customer’s specifications.

The completed Nuclear Fusion Pressure Vessel was successfully delivered to the customer. we are proud to be providing a high integrity solution for an advanced UK fusion energy project.

At CPE along with Nuclear Fusion Pressure Vessels we produce a wide range of high-specification and safety-critical products. See our product pages for more information.
